ModSDK.CnCWorld.Org : Up's and Down's
Posted by Sc0pEz on 2007/9/2 18:15:12 (15277 reads)

Well as you may have heard, the last host was very unstable and just couldnt provide the services and support that we as a community needed.

So after receiving a message from one of the EA forum members, by the name of chickndipp, we have found ourselves a more stable and productive home.

The switch over to cncworld will mean that we have a permanent place in the community, and since we are the first and only documentation project dedicated to the ModSDK (as far as we are are aware so far), then we hope that this new and improved platform will bring us closer to cracking this giant puzzle EA has delivered us.

When all is said though, you must admit that this is what makes us want to mod, doing the things we want to when we shouldnt be able to.

Mod SDK : BuildModExpress Version 2
Posted by Sc0pEz on 2007/9/1 12:22:38 (21070 reads)

Well since the 1.2 release of BuildModExpress had some serious issues which led to the removal of the files for download, I am happy to say that a full remake is ready to be used.

Version 2 includes most feature addition and also fixes numerous bugs that were found.

The new feature list is as follows:

- Build mod.xml : Runs binaryassetbuilder on mod.xml, the standard way of building your mod.

- Build mod_l.xml : Runs binaryassetbuilder on mod_l.xml if it exists, if it doesnt, it will create a mod_l.xml from your mod.xml. Solving the LOD problem so many of you had.

- Copy Mod.str : Copies your mod.str file if it exists.

- Copy Shaders : Copies Shaders from the normal folder, and also copies any shaders found in MOD SDK\Mods\Your Mod\Shaders.

- Copy Ini : Copies any Ini files found in MOD SDK\Mods\Your Mod\Ini ready to be included into your big archive.

- Run Make Big : Creates a big archive of your mod and copies it to your mod folder in My Docs.

- Create SkuDef : Creates a SkuDef for your mod from the infomation gathered in the application such as mod version and game version.

- Cleanup : Cleans up your MOD SDK\Builtmods\mods folder to ensure clean builds of your mods.

You can get hold of the new version from here

Any commensta nd feedback are always welcome as usual.

ModSDK.CnCWorld.Org : SteveVirus

After speaking personally with Steve during the setup and transfer of the new system, he has shown quite a commitment to the development and organisation of the Documentation project on a whole, which is why the decision has been made to appoint him as the most recent addition to the administration team here at ModSDK.Mine.Nu.

We hope Steve enjoys his stay with us, and also welcome his many talents such as his flair for writing clear and consise guides as well as his web development skills which will no doubt be of value in the future of the project.

So please welcome him, and check out his Custom Structures guide which can be found in the Wiki.

ModSDK.CnCWorld.Org : Welcome To Our New Home

Welcome to the new and improved Mod SDK Documentation Project. As you could probably tell the original wiki just didnt have the features that we required, so we made a decision to upgrade.

This is a good thing don't worry. The new system will allow us to better communicate with a stable forum system (I think everyone can agree EA are lagging on that front), News system, and a variety of other features when we manage to implement them. So we are at the moment working on transferring the content from the original wiki to the new system which if all goes well should take no
time at all.

In the mean time, don't hesitate to get in touch with any of the site admin with any queries about the move you have.

That's pretty much it at the moment, so hope to see the members list build up as you all register and keep working on those guides and articles ready for the new content system. As you may have noticed, the site is looking really bland at the moment, this is simply because between working on my own projects such as 7 Hour War, and keeping myself alive by eating, sleeping, etc.. I
haven't had enough time to design a decent theme yet.

So until a time that I have enough time, this will have to do. Unless some creative community members wish to submit some designs of course. Which is fine by me. But I must note that if they do, the site makes use of the Xoops CMS as you can probably tell, so the themes will need to be easily converted to their theme format.

Any submissions should be sent to sc0pez@modsdk.mine.nu Anyhow, back to 7 Hour War I go, hope to see you all on here soon.
